Stay Wild

“The transient ‘tastes of the wild’ come during the mystique of inspiration – ah, there it is.” – Clarissa Pinkola Estes

It is no secret that I am the lover of all things wild – not necessarily “wild” in the unruly, rebellious sense, but more in the authentic, rooted, natural sense.

We are all filled with a longing for the wild. The shadow of the wild lurks behind us during the day and into the night. No matter where we are, the shadow trots behind us, like some four-footed creature.

Are you wild? Have you kept (or rekindled) a connection of what it means to be a wild woman or man? Do you listen to your instinct, trust your intuition and allow yourself the freedom to explore?

Be creative. Flirt with adventure. Leap into the forest and run HARD, eyes scanning the ground, ears sharply tuned, eyes searching over and under, looking for a remnant, a sign that we are wild.

I see the wild in my “domesticated” dog Sitka. While she has been placed in this system of rules, restrictions, and behavioural expectations, she is truly wild-at-heart. Her tail enthusiastically wags at the prospect of catching a cricket, her ears erect at the sound of bird calls, and her body ready to pounce at an unsuspecting piece of fluttering garbage. She is playful. Alert. Aware.

We are intelligent beings, who unfortunately trade our intuition and heart for schedules and reason. Consider being a bit more “primal” – be spontaneous, vibrant, and a visionary. Be true to your nature; true to your wildness. You are an individual, and within every individual there is a wild and natural creature, a powerful force, filled with good instincts, passionate creativity, and ageless knowing.

Stay wild my friends.
